Very Alice in Wonderland I think

Portland Rose Garden…hope you like roses.

This must be where Shakespeare wrote all his plays.

Image

The most roses I could fit in a single pic.

The hall at Mcmenamins where we stayed. I didn’t see any ghosts.

Image

Very good bakery! First time I had a macaroon and it was amazing!

Image

Famous book store. You might need a GPS to find your way out. It’s huge.

Image

At Food Truck block for breakfast burritos. Better then it sounds.

Image

VooDoo Donuts. This location always has a shorter line then the downtown one. Try the Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Sho nuff’.

Image

Deschutes Brewery in the Pearl district downtown for my birthday dinner. Great food (especially the cheese pretzel).

Me, slightly buzzed.

Wow! A month flies by. I have to say I have had the time but between visits from both my and my girlfriend’s families and a couple overnight trips, it’s been tough to find the time to sit down and write.

I think as writers, we tend to look at things in life a certain way, spinning everyday things into meaningful plot points to use in our stories. For me specifically, my observer personality prods me toward the sidelines so I can fully take in what is going on around me. With everything going on this month, I decided not to just sit by and watch things happen around me. I decided to get involved. I decided to appreciate the people around me while I could, while they were in town. There will always be enough alone time to write. I just can’t let the times with the people I care about go to waste. There isn’t enough time for that.

Next time, I’ll write about updating my summer list, my creative projects, and times spent with loved ones. Happy summer writing!
